You are an employer who is aware of the benefits of internships, and you have prepared a good internship programme. But now it is time for the hardest part − finding the right candidates. Luckily, we have prepared a few tips on recruiting interns.

Partner with local universities

Depending on the type of internship your company is offering (full time or part time), recent graduates and university students may be the perfect candidates. Contact your local universities’ career centres and see what they can do to promote your internship vacancy. Some universities also have a job board where you can advertise your internship offer. Another idea is to contact professors from your field and see if they can help you promote your vacancy among their students. Last but not least, some universities organise job fairs – a great opportunity to gather CVs.

Use social media

Social media are a great way to advertise your internship vacancy and to reach the right candidates. Apart from announcing the vacancy on your corporate social media page, you can consider posting in community groups for jobseekers as well as on LinkedIn. If you decide to invest a little in social media ads, you can even target your posts so they can be seen by people with the right background and in the right demographic.

Post your vacancy on EURES

Launch a referral programme

This last tip is only applicable if you have already recruited interns. Contact your current interns to see if they have any referrals. It is likely that they know other students or graduates with similar backgrounds who would be willing to apply. Including a reward in your referral programme will encourage more recommendations.
