Very often, all can it take to shift from theory to practice, is a simple, yet realistic, narrative - in the form of a personal success story. Taking a step toward major life change can be given a leg-up when you already have evidence that someone, somewhere has walked a similar, if not the same path.We recently asked Pawel, about his experience, his new position at Skoda Auto and his new life in the Czech Republic.
What is it all about?
The initiative entitled „European job mobility support: enhancing job mobility in Europe via EURES among residents of Lower Silesian Region in Poland” is supported by the European Social Fund (ESF) and implemented by EURES Poland.
The project exclusively targets jobseekers over 30 years of age, originating from Poland’s Lower Silesia Region. Those who are willing to take up employment in the EU/EEA countries, and whom have been approved, are entitled to receive financial assistance to support their relocation process.
How does it work?
A long list of European employers, mainly from Germany, UK and the Czech Republic, have already signed-up to the project in their quest for skilled employees. EURES is assisting them in registering job offers and matching candidates throughout the recruitment lifecycle namely two chief tasks of the entire process.
For jobseekers, on the other hand, the EURES Poland team is providing a wide variety of tailor-made services. When it comes to targeting a specific group of people over the ages of 30, the team provides that extra bit of help. Pawel comments that hypothetically simple activities such as finding the right offer, translating his CV or having an interview in a foreign language appeared somewhat overwhelming to him at first. “Thanks to my participation in the project, I had my CV translated, attended a language course and received constant care from the advisers. They were ready to intervene at any time in case of difficulties with accommodation or work”, says Pawel.
A personal story, told personally
Nowadays, Pawel is working as a logistics professional for Skoda. He recounts that the most valuable assets he has gained as a professional from his recruitment journey, are determination and patience. “It means a lot to know that you are not left alone”, he says. “The support received from the advisers was crucial. All the difficulties that initially surface can be frightening, but with time everything turned into an interesting experience.”
Pawel also wanted to add a funny anecdote about his pay-check. “Today I can also say: YES, to a salary I can finally live with, and THANK YOU EURES!”
